Q: Do I need a referral from a doctor or an agency to access thryv. services?

A: No referral is needed. You can reach out and book directly.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: The first session is free. Thereafter, each session costs $150, excluding GST. If the session is held at your home or community setting, we also charge $1.00 per kilometre (excluding GST) for travel.

Q: Do you offer therapy packages?

A: Yes. Your first consultation with thryv is free, giving you the opportunity to meet with a practitioner and talk through your needs. Many whānau choose to pre-book three sessions following their consultation. When you do this, the initial session remains free - giving you four sessions to begin your support journey.

Q: Is there a charge for online sessions?

A: Yes. Online sessions cost $150, excluding GST. There is no travel fee for online services.

Q:  How to I cancel or change my scheduled session?

A:  Please let us know asap.  You can contact your therapist directly, or you can email thryv@kiapuawai.nz

If we receive 24 hours’ notice, we can reschedule that session with no money lost.  Please check out our cancellation and rescheduling policy.

A: thryv is designed for children, teens, and families needing therapy or parenting support.

Q: Where are services available?

A: Services are available online, in-office, or in-home (depending on location). We’re nationwide.

Q: What makes thryv. different?

A: We’re culturally anchored, professionally led, and flexible – with a strong focus on whānau wellbeing.

Q: How do I pay?

A: We will invoice you before each hui or session. Payment is due before your session via our online portal.

Q: Are your practitioners qualified?

A: Yes. Our family practitioners are registered, trained professionals with extensive experience working with tamariki and rangatahi.

Q: How long is a therapy session?

A: Sessions typically run for 40-50 minutes depending on the age group.

Q: Can I get support through Work and Income (WINZ) counselling assistance or Disability Allowance?

A: Some clients may be eligible for financial support from Work and Income to help cover counselling costs, including through the Disability Allowance for ongoing health conditions. Please speak with your Work and Income case manager to check eligibility. You can learn more here:

Q: How do agencies or professionals refer a client?

A: Agencies and professionals such as Oranga Tamariki, Police, Te Whatu Ora, schools, and other community organisations can refer tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau to thryv. For referral enquiries or pricing information, please email thryv@kiapuawai.nz. Our team will provide a referral form and discuss appropriate support options.
